Friday Night

Ever heard "Folsom Prison Blues" in Czech? It's pretty cool.

Friday night, some friends from church and i went to a pub. after a while, some guys came in with two guitars and a double-bass. three were locals, originally from the czech republic--the others were snowbirds. anyways, after warming up (and having a few beers), they struck up some Johnny Cash and some songs which i can only guess were czech folk songs. my friend ford plays violin so after a while he ran to his house to get it and joined in. they even got a harmonica going in on one song.

anyways, the night left me with the smell of secondhand smoke on my clothes and a ton of questions about evangelism, Jesus, and what it means to walk in His footsteps.
i know what all these things look like in the Bible, but what should they look like in my life?

An Occurence at the Mailbox

c&h_bird

You'd be surprised by the kind of things one sees on the way to the mailbox. Today, I found a little bird tied to a tree branch. He was just hanging in the air upside down with some kind of green plastic line wound around it's leg (it looked like the kind of material plastic bags are made out of.) Yeah, it startled me too.

Anyways, I ran back to the garage and grabbed some gloves and scissors. I was a little scared because I had never done anything like this ever before. I was never the kind of kid to run around outside picking up every furry or slimy thing I could get my hands on.

The "string" was too tight around his leg to cut off (at least not while holding him in mid air) so all I could do was cut the twig. When I brought him down to the ground to try to get the rest of it off, he flew into a bush. He's probably still there for all I know. I'll bet he's exhausted. Unfortunately, there's still a little piece of twig tied to his leg but hopefully he can peck that off now. At least he's better off then he was. I'm serious, it looked like a Christmas ornament.

Anyway, there's your post. That's what happened today.

By the way, Super Bowl commercials are stupid.

Psalm 121

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is the shade on your right hand,
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.
